Postdoctoral Scholarship at Yale University School of Medicine
The laboratory studies the role of the innate immune system during normal and pathological pregnancies, as well as the immunological functions of the placenta. This project will be to study the role of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in placental responses to bacterial and viral infections. Specifically the aim of this project is to characterize the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which TLR2 and TLR8 mediate trophoblast inflammation and apoptosis in response to bacterial and viral components, and to determine the impact on pregnancy outcome.
Candidates should have a PhD or MD/PhD and ideally be in either their first or second year of post-doctoral training. Candidates should ideally have experience with Reproductive Immunology. It is essential for candidates to have experience with tissue culture and molecular biology techniques. It is desirable for candidates to have experience with mouse models. Individuals should be highly motivated and productive, and should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
